Richland Chambers Fishing Report for Feb. 1st, 2013

Photo030The fishing got really good last week as the weather warmed the water temperature to around 52 degrees and the bite improved dramatically!!! We had trips on Thursday and Saturday and I did a little scouting on Friday and caught fish on every outing! The fish are still in deep water and biting on small (1/2 to 1 oz. RSR Slabs ) in 30′-40′ depths. The Windsock Point near the Marina has finally started to hold some good fish, but the majority of our really BIG MAGNUM White Bass are coming off the Old Hwy 287 Roadbed and the Oil Pad up the Richland Creek Arm of the Lake. We continue to catch a Catfish or two almost every trip but are still waiting for the Hybrid Stripers to show up in numbers. If we continue into February with these normal to warmer temperatures, we’ll be talking about Crappie fishing in early March!

Our calendar is such that you can still call and get a Weekday trip on short notice, but the upcoming Saturday openings are fewer and fewer. We have a boat open almost everyday this week and still have room for one more fisherman on a “Party Boat” this coming Saturday. The weatherman has a good forecast for Monday and then again for Thursday thru Saturday. Our “Winter Special” offering three for the price of two is in effect thru February!

Lastly, it’s definitely time to book your Spring Break trip with the Kids as we’re about two thirds booked the week of March 11th at this time. We offer AM and PM trips all that week.

Thanks and hope to see you soon!
