Bet that the Subject of this Report caught your attention!!! At Gone Fishin’ Guide Service, we try and tell it like it is and in doing so, we have to admit that this year’s Spring Break Week was pretty much a Non-Event! From March 9th thru March 16th, we cancelled 15 of 22 Fishing Trips due to (1) WIND that would one day be from the South and then from the North at 20 MPH Plus and (2) The fact that fishing was very tough due to much of the fish being “Up the Creek” on their Annual Spawn. When the fish make their move to the creeks, only the bank fishermen or someone in a canoe can get to them. We felt that if we didn’t stand a good chance of getting our Customers a nice box of fish, we’d give them the option of cancelling. Some did and others didn’t, and on those few trips we conducted , we had Fun, caught a few fish and made a few memories. Our new Customers were surprised to hear us trying to talk them out of fishing, but that’s just the way we conduct our business!
The last trip we conducted this week was on Friday. I tried real hard to convince my Friday Morning Customers (Tony, Kevin and Eric Fiala from Houston) to reschedule but they wanted to fish. And…I’m glad they did as we put over 50 nice White Bass in the cooler in about 2 hours and then the Wind got so strong we had to get off the Lake. It appears the fish are starting to migrate back to the main lake and hopefully we’ll be in good shape the remainder of March to catch lots of fish.
This next week appears to be a challenge (windy again) at the first and latter parts of the week. If you’re scheduled to fish with us, we’ll be in contact and try our best to get you on the Lake. If Mother Nature once again gets difficult, we’ll just make the correct decision to fish or not to fish!
Adam and I hate it that we weren’t able to get a lot of the Kids on the lake during the Spring Break, but there’s always Summer and more opportunities. As we head into the Spring, we have lots of Open Weekdays to accommodate you, but our Saturdays are all booked until June. We “Thank You” for keeping our calendar full and hope to hear from you soon!
