Richland Chambers Fishing Report for Sept. 7th, 2014

Photo388September is one of the least busy months in the Fishing Guide Business ranking third behind January and February. With School starting, Hunting Season kicking in gear and lots of other activities vying for people’s time, our boats stay on their trailers much of the month! The fishing is normally a bit tough for the White Bass, fair for Crappie and good for Catfish. I conducted Guided Trips Tuesday through Saturday this past week for Catfish and had catches ranging from 15 keepers to 50 keepers.  However, this week I only have two scheduled trips on the calendar.  There’s plenty enough action to make the morning enjoyable so if you’re wanting to try a Guided Trip, just give us a call and we’ll go fishin’ and you’ll have a fish fry!

Lake Richland Chambers is chock full of Channel and Blue Catfish! We’ve been focusing on the Channel Catfish by fishing in timbered coves in 12′-20′ of water. I always drop a little soured maize and range cubes in the water to attract the fish. We then bait a #4 treble hook with Danny Kings Punch Bait and drop the bait to the bottom. I use 12lb. test line and attach a small weight about 6″ above the hook. It normally takes a few minutes to get that first bite, but then be ready as the maize almost always attracts a school of fish! You’ll catch small, medium and LARGE Catfish, so keep the net handy!

If you want to learn how to catch Catfish, just give us a call and we’ll show you how! It’s easy and fun!

Thanks and have a Great Day!
